Families will find lots to do on a day out at Stourhead in Wiltshire. First, take the children to discover the history of the Palladian mansion, built by the Hoare family. There is a family trail plus traditional games and dressing up clothes in the basement.
Then head outside to stroll through the world-famous gardens. With a stunning lake as the focal point, the gardens include classical temples, grottoes and sweeping lawns – a wonderful place to enjoy a family picnic. Tracker Packs help families explore.
Families with older children may enjoy a walk out into the surrounding countryside. There is a choice of five waymarked walking routes described in a leaflet available from visitor reception or the shop.
