The children will love to go to the mysterious Royston Cave in Hertfordshire. Discovered by accident in 1742, the underground cave has an extensive range of medieval wall carvings. Entry, starting at 2.30pm, is by guided tour only, weekends and bank holidays (see website for details) and on a first come first served basis.
