Whatever the weather, head to Roves Farm near Swindon for a great family trip. This 410-acre Wiltshire working farm has lots of indoor and outdoor facilities offering visitors of all ages a fun and interesting day out. There is a full programme of daily activities on offer, as well as special events and school holiday themed events. Animals range from farmyard favourites, such as sheep, Highland cattle and pigs to donkeys, alpacas, ducks and guinea fowl.
Children will love the animal feeding and handling sessions and can get up close to lambs and pygmy goats and in Pets Corner enjoy stroking the guinea pigs and bunnies. Then there’s the animal racing (March-September) where sheep, goats and pigs give it their all.
A fun way to explore the farm outside is on free tractor and trailer rides. In the school holidays, themed tractor rides include the Three Little Pigs, the Gingerbread Race and Hungry Caterpillar. Make time for Explorers Corner. The den building, treasure hunts, nature activities and outdoor games are a lovely way for young children to learn about nature through adventure play and the tree house play area for children over age 5 has slides and ropes and nets to climb.
Indoors, kids can let off steam in the heated play barn, where there are ball ponds, tunnels, slides and pedal tractors to ride and a dry sandpit. There is also a dedicated under 5s and baby zone.
Family Camp dates (pre-booking required) guarantee fun for everyone. The whole family get to take part in field games, a BBQ, marshmallows and campfire and more. Roves Farm is also a great place for kids birthday parties, ensuring lots of wonderful memories.
