Ralph Court Gardens details...

Take the family to explore Ralph Court Gardens, comprising over 12 amazing themed gardens set in the grounds of a gothic rectory in Herefordshire. From Africa to Italy, these three-acre gardens lead visitors around the world and on into a captivating fantasy world. It is a wonderful family day out in Herefordshire with something to interest all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.

Children will love the Alice in Wonderland Garden complete with ’Smoking Caterpillar’. The clouds of smoke emanating from his mouth and hookah ensure you won’t miss him. In the African Jungle you can venture along the tree-top walkway, walk behind the water cascade and relish the lush tropical planting. Find yourself face to face with a grounded galleon in the Pirate Garden and dodge the water jets of the Triton Pool.

One of the highlights for young adventurers is sure to be Dinosaur World, hidden in the depth of the gardens! Travel back in time and encounter life-size animatronic figures such as a T-Rex and Velociraptor. Will you dare to sit or stand on the back of the Jeep while the resident six-metre T-Rex rushes to meet you?

Meanwhile, the lovely Italian Piazza features a church and bell tower along with conifers under-planted with lavender. You’ll pass Toad Hall in the Willow Garden before you reach the Gunnera Maze. Do be careful not to disturb the garden’s resident dragon, Edwina, if you are lucky enough to find your way out of the maze. See Claude Monet’s painting The Japanese Footbridge brought to life, but with a twist. Visitors will actually be able to walk into the painting. Then, for a peaceful moment, head to the tranquil Japanese Garden with trickling tree waterlily pool and tea house.

Ralph Court Gardens is just a couple of miles from Bromyard, on the B4214 road to Tenbury Wells. Follow the sign for Edwyn Ralph Church and the Gardens are the first on the right.
