Puzzlewood details...

Book your tickets and take the family to discover the magic of Puzzlewood for themselves. This enchanting and unique place has a maze of pathways winding through deep gulleys of mossy rocks, twisted roots of yew trees, bridges, dead ends, lookouts and other things to negotiate.

Puzzlewood makes a fantastic family day out in the beautiful and historic Forest of Dean. Discover a mile of pathways, with fantastic tree and rock formations, meandering through 14 acres of ancient woodland. The atmosphere is quite different from any other wood you may have visited.

It is no surprise that this magical scenery has made Puzzlewood a popular location for filming. So far the site has hosted a number of exciting television dramas such as Doctor Who, Merlin, Atlantis as well as three movies – Jack the Giant Slayer, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

JRR Tolkien is reputed to have taken his inspiration for the fabled forests of Middle Earth from Puzzlewood, and it’s not difficult to understand why.

Puzzlewood has its own free app which it is recommended that you download before you arrive. The app includes two interactive, augmented reality games: a Roman coin treasure hunt in the woods themselves and a colouring game to make your pictures come alive!

There are also animals, a willow maze, an indoor maze and toddler racing track, an outdoor playground, lots of picnic benches, a small cafe with free wi-fi and a gift shop.

Why not treat the family to a short break and stay at Puzzlewood? There are three cottages – two sleep four plus a cot and the third sleeps eight plus two cots. You will be able to make the most of all the facilities outside normal opening hours and help feed the animals each morning!
