Pembroke Castle in South West Wales ticks all the boxes for a great family day out: impressive fortress in a great location, birthplace of a king, tunnels and stairways to explore, imaginative displays portraying medieval life and the castle’s colourful history.
The special events programme includes living history, Knight School for the would-be knights in the family, falconry displays, outdoor theatre and more. A brass rubbing centre may be open at certain times in school holidays.

One of the best castles for families that we've been to. It looks suitably impressive and there's lots to explore, including an underground cave. Inside there are displays, a medieval banquet set up and a tableau of the birth of Henry VII - all really helped to bring the castle to life.
