For a brilliant day out in London with kids, a visit to the most famous cricket ground in the world, Фthe home of cricket’, will be an unforgettable experience. On a Tour at Lord’s, visitors can gain a fascinating insight into the game’s development, covering 400 years of cricket history, from it being a rural pastime to becoming a modern, international sport. Families have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and visit the dressing rooms, J.P. Morgan Media Centre, the Pavilion and see the Ashes and discover and explore the treasure house of Lord’s in the MCC Museum. Tours run seven days a week, throughout the year, excluding 19Р20 September and 25Р26 December and last approximately 1h 40 minutes. The museum boasts balls, bats and kits donated by great players from over the years including Shane Warne and Rahul Dravid Р as well as past greats such as Victor Trumper, Keith Miller and Jack Hobbs. The Tour continues through the heart of the Pavilion into the Long Room, where visitors can find the cricketing art gallery. The Long Room offers panoramic views of the famed pitch and is where today’s players make their way to and from the Фhallowed turf’. The MCC Cricket Academy is able to offer coaching courses for children aged 3Р17 and these run during the school holidays and also during term-time. It’s a great place for a cricket birthday party for children aged 7+ with a range of activities to enjoy. If you would like more information on a Tour or coaching courses, please see the website.
