Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens makes an ideal family day out where you can meet 200 species of animals at weekends and school holidays.

When you take a day out at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens you will find it is home to over 200 species of animals. Children can enjoy animal encounter sessions running throughout the day to learn all about the animals, as well as pet-handling sessions. There is a Zoo Club in school holidays that provides great sessions for children who are interested in animals.
There is a river and forest trail and climbing forest where older children can clamber about on ropes, rocks, hills and mounds. The Kirkley Hall Outdoor Activity Centre offers challenges on a tree top adventure high ropes course and a 120 metre zip slide! Combined tickets are available.
The Zoo is part of European breeding programmes for conservation and is involved with education in the Animal Care and Management studies at Northumberland College.
Open at weekends, bank holidays and school holidays but check the website for times before setting out. A family ticket includes 2 adults and up to 3 children. There are great refreshment choices with snacks and light lunches offered in the Tea Room seven days a week, the Cedar Tree Cafe is open in the college building during the week at peak times and you can spread out your own picnic in the Walled gardens, beside the river or in the woodlands.
