If you are looking for a special day out in London with the family, then make sure you leave enough time to visit the Imperial War Museum. There is free admission to this museum and visitors can explore and discover six floors of galleries and displays, including the permanent Holocaust Memorial. IWM London tells the story of those whose lives have been shaped by war from the First World War to present-day conflicts. Explore stories and key moments in history including the Second World War in A Family in Wartime, as seen through the eyes of a family in Stockwell or be intrigued by the Curiosities of War, items used by service personnel or created by them during wartime situations.
Look out for the changing programme of special temporary exhibitions and fun family events and free drop-in workshops that run throughout the year. Schools can book learning sessions for students at the museum. Sessions include using original artefact, documents, photographs, posters and film from the museum’s collection. Sessions are on offer to Key Stage 2 up to over 16 year olds.
