There is lots for the kids to see at Huntly Castle, once the ancestral home of the chief of Clan Gordon.
Visit the seat of one of medieval and Renaissance Scotland’s most powerful families. Heraldic sculpture and inscribed stone friezes were fitting for the home of the earls of Huntly, now a noble ruin.
See its development from a motte and bailey castle in the 1100s, a tower house of the Middle Ages to a stone palace in the Jacobean era.
Don’t miss the heraldic fireplaces and frontispiece.
