HMS Belfast details...

For a special and exciting day out in London, make time to take the whole family to visit HMS Belfast, moored between Tower Bridge and London Bridge in a stunning location. Visitors, whatever their age, will enjoy learning about what life was like on board this museum warship for its crew during WW2 and afterwards for her crew at sea, explained in the Life at War and Life at Sea exhibitions. Film, along with photographs and veteran testimonies, tells the story of how life was on HMS Belfast, one of only three vessels that remain from the bombardment fleet supporting the Normandy landings in 1944. There are nine decks to explore so non-slip shoes are recommended!

Visitors are able to climb up and down ladders as they make their way all over the ship, passing by the laundry room or the dentist’s office or the sick bay. Imagine sleeping in one of the tightly packed hammocks during duties in icy Arctic waters, or being stationed deep in the bowels of the ship when she opened fire in support of Allied troops on D-Day. Don’t miss the thrilling Gun Turret Experience where you can discover for yourself what it would have been like to be in the midst of a battle.

There are free audio guides available in several languages, as well as a family audio guide, providing further insight into the ship and life on board. Look out for lots of family activities and fun events at weekends and during school holidays.
