Hestercombe Gardens offers a fun family day out near Taunton in Somerset with plenty to interest a wide age range. With 50 acres of beautiful gardens, surrounded by countryside and endless fresh air, Hestercombe is the perfect place for families to discover together. So have fun in the natural play area in the Landscape Garden, spot wildflowers and butterflies at the meadow, paddle in the stream or play hide and seek around the gardens – or have a run around and go exploring!

A fantastic programme of family-friendly events runs throughout the year. Choose from wild crafts, trails, outdoor theatre, school holiday activities and more, in addition to regular indoor and outdoor art exhibitions at Hestercombe Gallery. Something for everyone to enjoy!

There are two play areas at Hestercombe. For under 7s, head up to the picnic area to find a handy spot at lunchtime or for one last play before you head home. This play area is kitted out with playhouses, a little slide and woodchip underfoot for a soft landing. Children of any age are welcome at the natural play area in the gardens, with den-making, stepping stone logs and noughts and crosses on offer.
