Devon is known for its multitude of beaches, and here are some suggestions for the best family-friendly ones.
Blackpool Sands is a Blue Flag Winner and is situated three miles away from Dartmouth. The beach is easily accessible from the car park and there are great facilities including a café.
Dawlish Warren Beach is one of South Devon’s top family beaches with distinctive sand dunes. It has won awards, has easy access from the road, an onsite café and a summer entertainment programme.
Exmouth Beach has two miles of golden sand and fascinating rock pools. There is a promenade with old favourites such as swing boats and crazy golf, as well as plenty of cafés.
Hope Cove has two sandy beaches in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mouthwell Sands in particular is great for sandcastles. The beaches have seasonal lifeguards and the village is very close by.
Woolacombe Beach in North Devon is very popular with families and is also a great place for having a go at surfing. This 3-mile long beach is close to parking (pay and display) as well as refreshments.
