Family-Friendly Beaches details...

The Isle of Wight has lots of lovely beaches and here are some suggestions for the best family-friendly ones.

Shanklin has flat water and and lots of sand, a traditional bucket and spade beach. There is an Esplanade with a multitude of fun activities, including crazy golf.

Sandown is a Blue Flag winner with miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown’s pleasure pier. You can hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks.

Ryde has miles of sand, and when the tide is out, there’s lots of space to make sand castles! With so much beach, it’s easy to find your own little spot.

Compton is something a little different and a bit of a secret. Take everything you need with you and once there, look for fossils and fly your kites.
