Step back in time on a day out with the kids at Erddig in Wrexham. This early 18th-century country house set within a formal garden and parkland has plenty for all ages to enjoy. Start your visit in the house and find out what life was like both above and below stairs in the early years of the 20th century.
Admire beautiful interiors and fine furniture and see the collection of servants’ portraits displayed on the walls of the servants’ quarters. Older children will be intrigued by the reality of servant life. Pop into the nursery to see toys from yesteryear.
Then spend the rest of your day out exploring the estate. Wolf’s Den natural play area provides endless entertainment for kids. Remember wellies if it is wet. Youngsters will have a great time building dens and trying out natural play equipment such as rope swings and balancing beams. Discover who ’Wolf’ was and find the remains of the castle he built in the woods nearby. Finally, if you can drag the family away from the play area, enjoy a stroll through the garden and then set off to explore the wider estate.

We really felt families were welcome at Erddig and thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit. There was plenty to see in all the outbuildings and the house. The kids particularly enjoyed the trail and spent ages in the natural play area tucked away in woodland.
