Colchester Zoo

Visit Colchester Zoo for a great day out in Essex the whole family will enjoy. Set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, visitors will be transported into a world full of magnificent animals just waiting to be discovered.

Here you can learn all about 270 species of animals, some familiar and many that are rarely seen. There are opportunities to see them up close during one of the many daily displays. It is also possible to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself! Come face to face with Komodo Dragons, see white rhino, giraffes, ostrich and kudu roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild.

Go on Colchester Zoo’s own Inca Trail where you can see the penguins as they play on their beach. Or you can visit the Butterfly Glade, get up close to the animals in Sensation Station, hop onto the Lost Madagascar Express Train, enjoy the indoor soft play area Jungle Tumble, and have a go on the numerous outdoor adventure play areas.

If you are 14 years old and over, you can choose from three Keeper Experience Days. Colchester Zoo is also a great place to hold a birthday party which includes many of the facilities, plus the birthday child gets to choose two amazing, close-up animal experiences. Throughout the year there is a host of family activities on offer.
