For an unforgettable day out with the children, visit Celtic Harmony in Hertfordshire and step back in time.
Located in Brickendon just a stone’s throw from London between the A10 and A1M, this award-winning education charity shows how life was in ancient Britain through a series of hands-on activities and workshops learning primitive skills, and archery courses, fun for all the family.
There is an indoor and outdoor Archery range and in the woods a field archery shoot. Visitors get to experience living history first hand, finding out what it was like to be a Celt in the Iron Age by spending a day with Archers, Warriors, Storytellers and Woodsmen and having lunch under the Feasting Shelter with food freshly prepared from local produce.
There are plenty of children’s activities, woodland treasure hunts, face painting, storytelling and longbow archery with wooden bows and arrows. Discover how people 2,000 years ago made their food and clothes and homes from what was available around them. Families can spend the night in a real Iron Age Settlement on a Summer Camping Evening (see website for dates).
The evening starts with a barbeque, followed by night games, storytelling and fire breathing and then ending with a walk and talk about bats and moths. For schools, Celtic Harmony has a programme of events and archery courses and there are 3 themed days to choose from: Stone Age, Iron Age Farmer and Iron Age Warrior, suitable for ages 7+.
This is a great place for a birthday party with a difference – an Archery Party (for children 8+ only, see website for details).
