How about a free day out with the kids exploring Brechfa Forest in Carmarthenshire? A good place to start is Abergorlech picnic site, set at the junction of two rivers. There is free parking, a children’s play area and three waymarked walks, including the easy mile-long Riverside Walk.
A longer and more strenuous walking route, the Forest Garden Trail, takes walkers past trees from all over the world including giant redwoods and eucalyptus. There is also a challenging mountain biking trail for experienced riders.
