Heritage Open Day at Pensthorpe

There’s lots of space to run around and plenty of fun things to do as part of Heritage Open Day, where entry is free. Visit the fascinating Discovery Centre to learn more about the unearthed treasures at Pensthorpe. See the old church which once stood where the Courtyard Café currently sits for a glimpse of time gone by. Go on the Sculpture Trail and leave plenty of time to have lots of fun on the eco-award winning indoor and outdoor play area!

Automatic Drawing Workshop at Hove Museum of Creativity

Hove Museum has a magic invention! It’s an invention that can do automatic drawings! Join museum staff to engage in a workshop, using spinning top technology, as you come up with some weird and wacky drawings, that you can then take home with you! This event is free, as it is part of Heritage Open Days. Suitable for all ages, and children and families are encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Open Doors at Denbigh Castle

Visit Denbigh Castle in North Wales for free over the weekend of the 24th-25th September as part of the annual Open Doors festival. Once a mighty fortress, the castle ruins bring medieval warfare to life. Listen out for the sound of the portcullis as you cross the drawbridge into the gatehouse!

Open Doors at Dyffryn Gardens

Enjoy a free day out with the children at Dyffryn Gardens in South Wales this September as part of the Wales-wide Open Doors festival. These peaceful Edwardian gardens have been restored and are a lovely place to wander in every season. Younger visitors will have a great time in the Log Stack natural play area. Free admission.
