This enchanting stage production in West Yorkshire begins with a steam train ride and runs from 16th July to 7th September. Exclusively for Bradford 2025.

This summer, revisit The Railway Children, the much-loved children’s classic and travel along the very train tracks where the film was shot! Presented by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture and York Theatre Royal in partnership with Keighley & Worth Railway, this enchanting stage production begins with a ride in a steam train along the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, familiar to millions from the film adaptation of The Railway Children.
Board a steam train at Keighley Station, travel along the historic railway to Oxenhope and see E. Nesbit’s classic novel come to life in a purpose-built auditorium within the station’s Engine Shed. The full experience, including both train journeys, takes about four hours and is not suitable for under 5s (babes in arms are permitted).
