Take the kids to join in the activities at Carew Castle in Pembrokeshire during the summer holidays. Families can look forward to a day out packed with medieval fun for all ages. Activities vary from day to day so check the schedule before visiting so you know what to expect.
Throughout the school break, from 20th July until 2nd September, visitors can find out about some brave characters from history with the Daring Damsels and Valiant Knights treasure hunt around the Castle. Find all the clues and receive a prize. Take part using a smart phone.
For extra entertainment, on selected dates young adventurers can join in fun-filled Days of Medieval Merriment. Learn sword fighting skills at Knight School, hear interactive talk Horrid Stories to discover the revolting side of life in the castle or try your skill at Have-A-Go-Archery and search for the lucky key to open the treasure chest!
If you have young children, visit on Thursday 25th July for Kids Rule the Castle, a special day of family-friendly activities designed for under 6s. Expect a treasure hunt, storytelling, crafts, giant bubble making, games, animal petting and more.
Other activities for kids and their families during the school summer holidays include spellbinding show The School of Wizards and Witches Magic Academy, a ghost walk and a series of open air theatre productions. Finally, over the August Bank Holiday weekend, enjoy three days of fascinating living history with Historia Normannis.
