May Half Term at Carew Castle

Keep the kids busy with a family day out at Carew Castle near Tenby in Pembrokeshire this May half term. From handling weapons and armour to crafts and learning more about herbs, there will be something to interest everyone. The Time Traveller’s Quest, a thrilling treasure hunt using a smart phone, will be available throughout half-term week.

Other available activities and events vary depending on the date of your visit. Advance booking may be necessary.

• Bowlore: Legends of Bow and Blade. Join the archers and knights of Bowlore at their medieval encampment and see sword fighting, archery and armour displays. There will be Sword School, have-a-go archery and weapon handling. Dates: 24th-26th May.
• Launch of the Giant Trebuchet. Watch this huge medieval catapult in action on 27th May.
• Night Bat Walk. Join an after-dark walk around the grounds and listen in on these nocturnal creatures using bat detectors. Date: 27th May.
• Hands-on: Weapons and Armour. Try on armour and pick up a battle shield and long sword. Great photo opportunity! Dates 27th, 28th and 29th May.
• Find the Key! Can you find the lucky key and uncover the magical reward inside the treasure chest. Dates: 28th and 29th May.
• Hooray for Herbs! Enjoy a tour of the herb beds and gather ingredients needed to make toothpaste, lemon balm tea and a fresh posy. Dates: 28th and 29th May.
• Magical Makes with Whimsical Wildlings. Children’s crafts in the undercroft. Make swords, crowns, mirrors and shields. Dates: 29th and 30th May.
