Tintagel Castle is a great place to spend time with the family and enjoy a fun day out! Start your journey by exploring the exhibition which looks at the Castle’s rich and varied past with artefacts discovered at the site
Enjoy the outdoor interpretation and go on a journey of discovery. Climb the 148 steps on to the headland and pass through the wooden door to explore the remains of the Dark Age settlement where Cornish rulers lived.
There are beautiful coastal views as you circle the island paths and allow time to relax on the beach or paddle in the sea below the castle. In summer, children can build sandcastles or explore Merlin’s Cave when the tide is out.
The island is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and home to wonderful flora, fauna, wildlife and birds throughout the year. You can often spot seals in the water too!
The Beach Cafe is a great place to stop and rest those little legs, as well as to enjoy a locally sourced light snack or meal. You can also purchase a children’s cream tea which comes with bucket and spade in case you have forgotten to take your own!
We welcome the further easing of lockdown for all attractions on our website but recommend you always check COVID-secure measures before you travel and note changes to booking requirements.
We hope you and your children enjoy wonderful and safe days out this summer.
