Sweeney's Cruise Co. Loch Lomond details...

With a long tradition of family sailing on Loch Lomond going back to the 1880’s Sweeney’s Cruise Co. now offers a range of trips on Scotland’s most accessible loch. Get on to the water safely, sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as someone else takes care of the piloting and navigation.

Prices shown are for the ”Experience” tour, one of the most popular. This trip lasts for an hour and takes in the South basin of the Loch, giving unrivalled views of Ben Lomond and some of the grand homes and castles on the shoreline. You will head out towards Inchmurrin Island, home to the ruins of Lennox castle, where Robert the Bruce took shelter before becoming King of Scotland in the 14th century.

For those who want to spend more time on board there is the ”Island Discovery” cruise. This cruise lasts for two hours, passing by the world-famous Loch Lomond Golf Course and taking in the picturesque village of Luss. This trip sails around the area of the loch known locally as ”The Narrows” and you will hear tales, legends and history of some of the loch’s 33 islands – “The jewels in the crown” of Loch Lomond.

Other cruises available are the “Sunset” and “Osprey” cruises. Sweeneys also operates waterbus services between May and September linking Balloch, Luss and Balmaha. The cruises all feature commentary by Neil Oliver, known for the “Coastline” TV series, and boats leaving from Balloch provide a bar with tea, coffee and snacks.

New in Summer 2017 is the Jet Boat Tour. This is a fun-filled, high speed tour of the loch. Note that this departs from Loch Lomond Shores visitor centre. Cost for a family of four is £43 and booking is strongly recommended.
