Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve details...

The 450 acre country park in Nottinghamshire is the legendary stomping-ground of Robin Hood. Prepare a picnic and take the children to the beautiful ancient woodland for an active day out following the numerous way marked pathways. Discover the famous ’Major Oak’ and imagine the legendary Robin Hood riding through the surrounding forest.

Sherwood Forest is home to the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. The forest has 900 veteran oak trees including England’s Tree of the Year, The Major Oak.

Take your binoculars for bird spotting, listen out for their different calls and look down to your feet to search out creepy crawlies of all kinds as well as wild flowers and fungi.

Open every day except Christmas Day, the forest has something for everyone including walks and trails, events, archery, bug hunts, adventure playground, visitor centre, cafe and toilets. A small car parking charge is required.
