Children will love a fascinating day out at the RSPB reserve where the spectacular white cliffs of the Yorkshire coast are home to almost a quarter of a million seabirds. A short walk from the purpose-built Visitor Centre and cafe takes you to a number of specially-created cliff top viewpoints, where the massed ranks of gannets, guillemots and kittiwakes can be seen. Close to the top of the cliff, you might also see colourful puffins. The seabirds are best seen from April to August but at all times of year there are bracing walks to be had along the coastal footpath. Look out for the family events especially during school holidays. Entrance during winter months, November to February is free, but donations are welcome.
