Children will love a fascinating day out at the RSPB reserve where the spectacular white cliffs of the Yorkshire coast are home to almost a quarter of a million seabirds.
A short walk from the purpose-built Visitor Centre and cafe takes you to a number of specially-created cliff top viewpoints, where the massed ranks of gannets, guillemots and kittiwakes can be seen.
Colourful puffins are generally seen from April until end of July (mid July is a great time to see them) and you can take a closer look by joining a cruise to get close the cliffs and see them rear their young at sea.
At all times of year there are bracing walks to be had along the coastal footpath. Look out for the family events especially during school holidays.
See the RSPB Bempton Cliffs website for seasonal entrance prices which vary from peak season (March to October) to low season prices (November to February).
