Get close to nature on a free day out with the kids at Magor Marsh SSSI nature reserve near Newport, South Wales. This area of fenland on the Gwent Levels is a good choice for family nature rambles in search of birds, butterflies, minibeasts, flowers or fungi, depending on the season. There is a bird hide 400 metres from the car park. Cattle and other livestock graze in some areas. Look out for trails and children’s events, especially in the school holidays.
