Lowther Castle & Gardens

The magnificent ruined castle set in 130 acres of gardens is the subject of a huge restoration project and is being brought back to life year by year. Explore the restored parts of the gardens, run wild in the woods, build dens, encounter lots of hidden wildlife and secret paths to follow.

Explore the gardens and grounds to find your own adventure and the children can let off steam in the huge ’lost castle – Dragon’s Lair’ adventure play park with ramps and steps, a maze of turrets, zip wires, walkways, turrets and slides plus a toddlers’ area, sandpit and rope mesh.

You can book an afternoon tea with e-bike hire on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There is an excellent choice of hot and cold food and drinks available in two cafes, plus picnic areas. Children under 3 years have free entry. Look out for events held throughout the year.
