The King's Theatre, Glasgow details...

One of Glasgow’s favourite venues, which hosts pantomimes, theatre, live music and shows throughout the year, the King’s Theatre is bound to have something on offer to please every member of the family. Located just West of the city centre, The King’s  is close to Charing Cross station  and within easy access of the main motorway routes. King’s Theatre Glasgow also plays host to numerous workshops throughout the year, which people of all ages participate in. Backstage tours are also available  – contact the theatre for details.

Opening in 1904, Kings Theatre was designed by famed architect Frank Matcham for the Howard & Wyndham theatre group. The theatre features a mix of different styles influenced by Art Nouveau and Baroque, and when it was built cost £50,000, which would equate to approximately £3.5 million today. The King’s Theatre underwent renovation in 2008 during which the interior was refurbished and the theatre restored to its former glory.

The theatre has a seating capacity of 1,785 and provides seating on four levels: Gallery, Upper Circle, Grand Circle and Stalls. The unique design of the theatre minimized the need for supporting pillars, so nearly all seats in the theatre have a reasonably good view of the stage.
