One of the interesting free places to take children in Swansea is the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. The permanent collection features a range of visual arts including works by old masters, Swansea China and modern sculpture and painting by Hepworth, Welsh artists such as Augustus John, and others.
The gallery opened in 1911 after the death of Richard Glynn Vivian, who had gifted his art collection to the people of Swansea a few years previously. There is a programme of temporary exhibitions offering visitors the chance to enjoy work by both established and emerging artists. For extra interest, time your visit to coincide with one of the free participatory activities for children and their families. Booking may be necessary for some activities.
Please see the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery’s website for opening times and to find out what’s on at the moment.
