The Park has everything you need for a great family day out, and it’s for free! Start exploring from one of the Forest Park’s three visitor centres.
Kirroughtree is the gateway centre for Galloway Forest Park and from here there are wonderful woods, water and hills. There is history at Glentrool and over at Clatteringshaws, there are tranquil views over lochs and hills.
Kirroughtree and Glentrool are home to two of the world-famous 7stanes mountain bike trail centres. Watch for red deer and wild goats, choose from two scenic Forest Drives, follow in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce or picnic beside a peaceful loch.
Scotland’s first Dark Sky Park is here and is one of the best places to stargaze in Europe.
