Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre details...

One of Scotland’s most important history lessons is brought bang up-to-date and presented in a modern, thrilling and informative manner. Get ready for a truly exciting day out with the kids when you take them to The Battlefield at Bannockburn. It is one of the most important historic sites in Scotland. On this battlefield, in June 1314, King Robert the Bruce routed the forces of King Edward II to win freedom for the Scots from English domination.

The new Battle of Bannockburn visitor centre opened in 2014 to mark the 700th anniversary of the battle. Visitors are able to discover the brutal mechanics of war, learn about the tactics and choices of Robert the Bruce and King Edward II, and observe a simulation of the battle or even lead their own division of medieval solders in a 3D simulation. You will prepare for battle before visiting the Battle Room. To round off the experience, an interactive Battle Game shows you how Scotland triumphed in 1314 or watch how it all happened in an automated Battle Show.

Entry to the experience is by pre-booked, timed ticket only. The family ticket option includes 2 adults and up to 4 children. There is free parking for 84 cars at the centre on a first-come-first-served basis. The centre now includes an award-winning “Taste Our Best” café, supplying a range of breakfasts, lunches, hot and cold snacks and afternoon teas.
