It is easy to see why Attingham Park is such a popular choice for family days out in Shropshire. Located four miles south-east of Shrewsbury, this stunning 18th-century mansion and its surrounding parkland have plenty of things to do and see for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.
Explore inside the mansion to discover its history including the story behind the Picture Gallery roof. Admire beautiful interiors, pictures and treasures and try out the activities in the family room.
Go outside and wander through the walled garden or set off to explore the deer park with its resident herd. There’s a choice of different walks and trails to follow, all offering wonderful views and opportunities to see wildlife.
Search for fungi in autumn or stroll beside the river. Allow plenty of time for the kids to enjoy the activities in the Shoulder of Mutton play field with table tennis, badminton, football and volleyball plus a traditional playground. School holidays are a great time to visit Attingham as there are different kids activities every week.
Families with young children may be interested to learn that starter bikes and tricycles are welcome at Attingham. It’s an excellent opportunity for young children to gain confidence in a traffic-free environment (standard bicycles are not allowed in the park, but children aged 11 years and under may explore the grounds on push/kick scooters).
Please see the National Trust’s website to find out more before visiting.
