Combine a visit to the Alexander Keiller Museum at Avebury, Wiltshire, with exploring one of the most significant prehistoric archaeological sites in Britain – the world’s largest prehistoric stone circle and part of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site.
The Alexander Keiller Museum is divided into two galleries – the Barn Gallery and the Stables Gallery. The Barn Gallery has interactive displays and a children’s area. Young visitors will have great fun making their own archaeological rubbing or dressing up in Bronze Age clothes.
In the Stables Gallery there is a fascinating range of archaeological finds from the locality on display. Look out for the animal skeletons dating from over 5,000 years ago. Also there are flint tools and Neolithic pottery to view.
Please see the National Trust’s website for further details before travelling.
