Afan Forest Park

Afan Forest Park near Port Talbot in South Wales has plenty of family things to do, from exciting mountain biking routes for all abilities to waymarked walks and a mining museum. The Rookie Trail is ideal for mountain biking beginners, young and old, and has picnic areas along the way.

For a gentler cycle ride along the floor of the valley, follow the 14-mile Rheilfordd Trail, which follows the wide, gently sloping route of old railway lines and offers many opportunities to take a break and admire the view. Walking trails in Afan Forest Park vary from an easy mile-long stroll to a ten-mile hike and all are waymarked. Other attractions within the park include the family-friendly South Wales Miners’ Museum.
