This half term discover the place of the Vikings in our history at the exciting annual festival on 20th to 27th February.
JORVIK Viking Centre 19 Coppergate, York, North Yorkshire YO1 9WT
Set aside a day to visit the annual Jorvik Viking Festival in York this year. It is recognised as the largest event of its kind in Europe offering a city-wide celebration of York’s rich Norse heritage.
The festival this year will span 8 days from Wednesday 20th February until Wednesday 27th February 2019 with the special events taking place over the weekend such as the 10th Century Traders, Strongest Viking Competition, March to Coppergate, Best Beard Competition, Viking Feast and evening ‘Battle Spectacular’ on Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd February.
Plan a day out in half term to commemorate the important moment in British history, the arrival and conquest of England by the Great Viking Army in AD 866. The theme for JORVIK Viking Festival 2019 is ‘The Untold Story of Women in the Viking Age’. With an exciting programme of events that explore the impact of the Viking invasion on Anglo-Saxon England, including fantastic living history events, encampments, walks, talks, tours and of course, dramatic combat performances, there is something for everyone at the JORVIK Viking Festival.
Prices for entry vary depending on the event. See the website for a full line up of events at https://www.jorvikvikingfestival.co.uk
