Never mind the rain, pull on your wellies and make a big splash at the annual Puddle Jumping Championships at WWT Martin Mere this half term!
All the family can make the biggest splash possible! From toddlers to grannies everyone can jump into the puddles to win a prize. Practise as long as you like, there’s plenty of puddles to perfect your splash before the competition starts at 2pm. It’s 50p to enter and so go along and test yourself against the ’splashometer’!
As well as splashing about in puddles there’s lots of other family fun activities to have a go at. Get creative in the craft room which will be open daily 12pm-3.30pm. Design your own welly, make a puddle-themed badge and create your own paper plate pond.
Give your wellies a good day out and go exploring in the Wild Walk area! Venture through three types of ‘wild’ wetland in one mile-long VIP walk – squelch through the mucky meadow to the middle maze lodge; bounce over the wobbly wet bridge into the wet woods; tip-toe along the reedy ramble towards giant sculptures; and splodge down a maze of secret wetland tracks.
During your visit, you can find out more about the family of Asian short-clawed otters during the daily talks. Check the ’what’s on’ board when you arrive for a full list of activities available during your visit. Before you head home, be sure to grab a tasty treat from the cafe, serving everything from warming drinks to hot and cold lunches for all ages.
