Chinese New Year at Weston Park

Take the family along to celebrate Chinese New Year at Weston Park in Shropshire this February half term. On selected dates watch wonderful traditional Chinese performances or explore the House ’Lit by Lanterns’ to welcome in the Year of the Snake.

On Sunday 16th February visitors can watch the spectacular Lantern Parade leaving the Granary and making its way to the House. The colourful parade will be led by a traditional dancing dragon.  An evening of traditional Chinese performances will follow. The programme includes dancing, singing and traditional instruments.

Before the Lantern Parade there will be a variety of activities in the Rose Paterson Art Gallery. Why not make your very own lantern to carry in the lantern procession? The Lantern Parade is non ticketed and free. However a small charge applies to make some lanterns (some will be free of charge). Register in advance.

On selected dates from Monday 17th until Sunday 23rd February, visit and see Weston House ’Lit by Lanterns’. The lanterns from the Parade will be hung around the House.
