The Willow’s Bird of Prey Centre near Sevenoaks in Kent is a great place to take the children for a fun family day out!
Their 6-acre nature trail is a woodland setting full of wildlife and birds. It is an area of old nursery land, previously used for growing specimen trees. It now houses various interesting animals.
You can see goats, chickens, wallabies, ferrets, rabbits, raccoon dogs, rare-breed pigs, sheep, a falabella miniature horse and of course, the incredible birds of prey.
Go on the wonderful Nature Trail where you can see all the amazing animals. The entrance price gives you access to the Nature Trail all day and the many demonstrations that are put on each day!
Willow’s runs four demonstrations of Birds of Prey throughout the day, including owl handling. During half term holiday they offer more demonstrations including ferret racing!
During the summer, there are up to eight activities which include the two spectacular flying displays. Each display takes place in a different arena with a different team of birds. You can expect to get very close to the birds as they swoop over your head, whilst the passionate and knowledgeable team will provide a light-hearted and informative commentary.
Look out for the Junior Falconer Experience which is suitable for children aged 8 to 15 years old. This is their opportunity to become a falconer for the day. They will join two members of the team for an exciting two hour session filled with activities including handling and flying a variety of species of owls and hawks, swinging a lure, weighing and feeding birds and much more! Please visit the website for dates this experience is being held.
When little legs get tired, pop into the Blueberry Cafe! From a coffee of your choice and a slice of homemade cake, to a hearty hot meal, this is the perfect refreshment stop, whether you’re visiting the Centre or simply passing by.
Children under 5 can visit for free.
