Bodelwyddan Castle details...

Look forward to a great day out with the children at Bodelwyddan Castle, a fascinating historic house in Denbighshire surrounded by acres of parkland brimming with wildlife. Located near the seaside resorts of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llandudno in North Wales, this popular family attraction has plenty of things to do and see with kids.

Make sure you pick up a free ’Ibod’, an audio-visual guide, at the main entrance to make the most of your visit. Families are welcomed with free quizzes, trails and explorer tools for children. Then set off to discover the Castle as it would have been in its Victorian heyday when it was home to the Baronets of Bodelwyddan.

Make your way through nine rooms displaying original features from over three centuries ago and wonderful art. Visitors will be able to see art from the collections of the Royal Academy of Arts and the V&A Museum, plus an impressive array of Victorian portraits from the collections of the National Portrait Gallery. Younger visitors will be delighted to discover themed toys within the historic rooms and an interactive gallery area, not to mention the Victorian Toys and Games Room! Find out more about life in the 18th and 19th centuries at the Victorian Inventions and Amusements galleries.

Spend the rest of your day out in the fresh air exploring the parkland and the popular adventure play area, maze and Mini Bod’s Little Kingdom, where young children can hunt for minibeasts and bugs. Stroll through the formal gardens, enjoy a family nature ramble and view the WWI practice trenches that were used by soldiers based at the site.

The programme of special events includes activities for children and families, especially in school holidays.

Admission charges vary during the year.
