Planning a family day out on the Isle of Wight should include the interesting Appuldurcombe House.
Look out for the brown tourist signs.
The house, a partly restored 18th-century baroque home, was once the grandest and most striking house on the Isle of Wight.
There is an interesting and historic exhibition over the shop.
In the eleven acres of ornamental grounds, which were designed by Capability Brown, there is much to see, including spotting wildlife – even some red squirrels!
The grounds are just perfect for a picnic.
