Open 12 Jul - 30 Aug

Add the wonderful Roman Baths to your list of places to go in Somerset during the summer holidays. There’s a full programme of family-friendly activities to keep all ages busy and interested. So find out what’s on and start planning a great family day out. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Rhyming Roman Baths – 12th July

Visit between 6pm and 8pm to discover words of wisdom, both ancient and modern. Chat to the poet in residence and even try adding some lines to the collection of poetry yourself!

Amazing Arches – 29th July-2nd August

Take a good look at the huge Roman arches. Then have a go with the wooden model and make a pop-up arch with card and pens. Drop in 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-4pm.

A Head of the Game – 5th-9th August

Learn more about Roman hairstyles from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm. Discover what a Roman’s hairstyle said about them and create a wiggy wonder.

Measure for Measure – 12th-16th August

Do you know how the Romans weighed and measured objects? Drop in 10am-12.30pm and 1.30-4pm. Learn more about ancient weights and measures and afterwards make a Roman measuring ruler.

Brilliant Bladud – 19th-23rd August

The city of Bath has a connection with pigs. Explore the founding myth of the city and help bring the tale right up to date from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.

Wacky Weaving – 26th-30th August

Take the family along to have a go at weaving between 10am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm and 4pm. See how the Romans made their clothes and fabrics.

Words on Wednesdays

Attend an evening session exploring objects from the Roman Baths’ collections. Visitors will be able to handle objects at touch tables and find out which Wednesday Word has provided inspiration. Dates: Wednesdays 17th, 24th, 31st July and 7th, 14th, 21st August. Times: 6-8pm.


Admission prices include all activities.
