'Plodge' at Gibside details...

Open 2 Feb - 28 Feb

Pull on your wellies and your outdoor ’mucking’ clothes and get active at Gibside during the month of February. Turn off the tech and spend a day out in the fresh air at the ’Plodge’ event at Gibside from Saturday 2nd to Thursday 28th February.

’Plodge’ is a month long celebration of MUD! The word ‘Plodge’ is a Geordie word meaning ‘to wade’. Mud isn’t hard to come by at Gibside during the winter months and there are plenty of places where you can wade through it to your heart’s content!

Throughout February you can pick up a welly trail sheet from visitor reception and follow it to discover the best muddy places, give welly-wanging a go or simply create your own adventure. There will be additional special muddy activities during February half term week between 11am and 3.30pm such as the barefoot walk, mud kitchen, splashing around in the puddles and more mud mania!

Dress for the weather and visit Gibside between 10am and 4.30pm for a brilliant active day out that will entertain all ages with additional activities taking place across the gardens and woodland. Standard admission charges apply and there is a small charge for some of the additional activities.

The welly trail follows hard-standing paths suitable for pushchairs but additional activities may involve off path walking.

**Muddy surfaces can be slippery so take care.
