A live world class show performed by a huge cast, an amazing journey through 2000 years of history, myth and legend in Durham from 29th June to 14th Sept.
Kynren Showground, Bishop Auckland, Durham, DL14 7SF
This year Eleven Arches will once again present ‘Kynren’, an action packed, open air show of dazzling proportions in the county of Durham. In the UK’s most spectacular live action theatre performance watch legends come to life on a giant outdoor stage as a 1,000-strong cast and crew present the spectacular story of England, 2,000 years in the making. Kynren tells the incredible story of invasions, Royal splendour, wars, heroic sacrifice, daily life and seismic change down through the centuries. Children will be enthralled as they join Arthur, the son of a mining family, on his spellbinding journey back through time.
The dazzling pyrotechnics, magical choreography, amazing stunts and hard-to-believe horsemanship combine with an inspired, original soundtrack to create an unforgettable family experience. Meet Romans, medieval knights, Victorians and experience the lavish pomp and pageantry of Royal ceremony. Watch out for the Vikings as they as they launch a dramatic longship attack on a fishing village; leaving a trail of destruction and fire in their wake.
Before the Show visit the new Viking Village and take a stroll along the stream and watch the sparks fly at the working blacksmith’s forge where you’ll be able to see real chainmail being made, and don’t miss the Animal Croft where you can meet some of the animal cast of Kynren.
The show opens on Saturday 29th June and runs until Saturday 29th September 2019 with shows billed for Saturday nights with Pre-show attractions starting at various times from 4.30pm until 6pm.
