Add the River & Rowing Museum to your list of places to go with the kids in Oxfordshire. Adding to the fun and interest of your visit is this wonderful interactive exhibition from Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books.
So take the family to rediscover some of their favourite tales, meeting some famous bears such as Winnie-the-Pooh and Rupert along the way. Also there will be new stories featuring panda bears, polar bears and toy bears to enjoy.
Make the most of the chance to see original manuscripts and artwork such as We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and His Dark Materials. With a bear hunt through the bears’ glade, stories in the bear cave and dressing up, there will be lots to keep young visitors busy.
Finally, look out for a variety of family-friendly activities linking to the exhibition. Throughout the school summer holidays there will be bear games, fun and craft on Family Fridays. Thursday 8th August is the date for a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. To find out more about bears from around the world, from polar bears to grizzly bears, visit on Thursday 29th August for Family Day event Bears, Bears, Everywhere! These three events are free with admission.
In addition, over the summer will run a series of themed children’s workshops – charges apply for these and advance booking is necessary. Just check the Museum’s own website for the full programme.
